A. No, only the 3250 support raw nwsf data to get the water column data in to Echoview

A.  Yes, to convert files recorded using Data Manager to XYZ. GSF and a Echoview format. It is necessary to have a USB dongle containing the required licences. When this dongle is connected to the computer running Data Manager an extra export tab is available in Data Manager.

A.  Backscatter is different on port side to starboard side or stripes are visible down the middle. Make sure you are using the latest DRX Software version (Contact your Local WASSP Dealer) and the Backscatter Calibration has been carried out. If this has not been carried out please refer to the CDX Operators Manual.

  • Make sure the WASSP is connected, when you see the vessel position updating on the chart you can assume it is connected. otherwise check that the LED in the device menu is green for the "DRX server"
  • The "mapping" could be disabled in the chart menu, make sure this is enabled.
  • Make sure that pitch roll heave heading and position are updating in the "data setup" page in the DRX setup pages or validate this in the "Nav Bar" in CDX. when one of them is not working you will not see any mapping in CDX or any client.
  • Make sure the system is transmitting (transmit icon in the main menu should be blue)

The sounder/sonar displays the depth from the transducer to the bottom OR From the waterline to the bottom which can be set under UI preferences DEPTH BELOW surface or transducer

The Chart depth reading is a Chart based depth reading from "the transducer to bottom" + "transducer draft" + "Tide correction".

There are several possibilities for this to occur

  1. The sound velocity could be set differently in the other depth sounder. Check if this is possible to change or preset with the sounders manufacture or manuals.
  2. The depth shown in the sounder window can be set to either transducer depth or surface depth this may differ on the other sounder. (This can be changed in CDX by going to => main menu => UI Preferences => "Depth below transducer" OR "Depth below surface".
  3. The transducer draft setting may be incorrect or missing in the DRX setup pages. To make them the same:
    • Set the sound velocity in the other sounder to be the same sound velocity as set in the DRX (in CDX menu - DRX Processing)
    • check both systems are using the same depth setup.
    • check to see if the draft offset has been set in the sounder

NOTE:

The depth on the chart is chart depth and is correct for the draft that has been set in the "DRX setup pages" and also corrected for tide. Make sure to set check that the tide is setup correctly in the TIDE menu under DRX Processing setup menu (when using Maxsea Time Zero make sure to turn the TIDE control off so that the menu is not visible)

Check the DRAFT set in the "wassp setup pages" (CA) under "the corrections" tab.

*  Later shuttles for gen 1 were 3.3 Ghz CPU. Higher clock speed for gen 1 is more important than more processor cores as the software can’t take advantage of more than 2 cores.

*  For gen 3 a faster machine is recommended if running multiple programs like CDX and Time Zero at the same time. Quad core +

Note: WASSP original ADLINK PC were specially modified to remove DC earth leak to case. Off the shelf models will not have the same isolation if connected to the ship’s hull.
