FURUNO has again been recognised as a market leader in Marine Electronics by taking 5 awards in the Product of Excellence at this year's NMEA Awards. This continues a strong showing for FURUNO who have historically taken out major awards year after year since winning the award for Best Fish Finder in 1971. This takes FURUNO to a total of 235 NMEA awards, which is more than any two other manufacturers combined.
FURUNO was again acknowledged by taking top honors in the highly regarded categories of Best Fish Finder and Best Radar with the DFF3D Multi-Beam fish finder and DRS4DNXT Radar respectively.
Along with these FURUNO took out the Commercial Radar division with the FAR2228BB Radar, and the NMEA Sensor division with the SCX20 Compact Satellite Compass proving its popularity for this amazing product. The SCX20 uses a unique 4-antenna design creating exceptionally accurate heading, pitch, roll, and heave information even in the most testing of conditions.
With the annual NMEA Conference and Expo event unable to be organised due to Covid, NMEA members selected the winners of the annual Product of Excellence Awards through an online voting process, with a live in-person event scheduled to be reinstated in 2021.
The National Marine Electronics Association members are comprised of dealers, distributors, industry experts and NMEA-approved technicians, and they each vote for who they feel should win the awards. Therefore, winning these awards helps to build FURUNO's reputation for excellence and reliability among customers around the world.
The mission of the NMEA is to contribute to development and popularization of the marine electronics industry. The association also sets standards for electronic interfaces for navigation equipment, communication protocols, and other aspects of marine electronics. Annually, the NMEA recognizes the new products with the best design, performance and reliability.
